Lovanee Cunden (Bard College)
Working with Mrs. Mahadoo was one of the best things that happened in my life. Today I'm being able to pursue my American dream thanks to her. She believed in me when I could not believe in myself. One day, when college application deadlines were rolling in and I still had tons of essays to write, I remember she told me "if you have an elephant to eat but you keep staring at it, you will never be able to do it but if you attack each part of the elephant one piece at a time, it makes the process much easier and more approachable."
She always had the right words to encourage me, and bring the best out of me. She is a driven, and organized advisor who develops inspiring relationships with her students. College application is a very stressful process but with her by my side, I felt in safe hands. Her dedication to her work is so contagious that she makes you want to work harder to achieve your goals. She is a confident woman who knows what she is doing. She is a great advisor and listener. She always made me feel that my efforts would be rewarded and here I am today, doing my chemistry undergraduate degree at Bard College, New York with a Distinguished Scientist Scholarship. I am so grateful that even after working with her, she never left my sides and remained a guide in my life.
