Maximilien Chong  (Wesleyan University)

After having failed to secure a seat with enough financial aid when I first applied to US universities, I was not sure about reapplying. However, a friend of mine who was admitted to UPenn encouraged me to do so, and referred me to StudyUSA.

StudyUSA convinced me to have a shot at a second chance. I started late - a couple of months before the deadlines. And during these two months Anjanita offered me invaluable support throughout the application process. Anjanita was very flexible and always ready to help, regardless of the time difference between us. I could discuss my applications with her at any time of the day be it on Skype, or Whatsapp or mail.

Her guidance whilst I was brainstorming for my essays made for a memorable introspective experience which, I feel, did not contribute only to my college applications but moreso to a personal journey of self-discovery that will forever stay with me. When I showed Anjanita my essays, she would read and review them the way an admission officer would, and would suggest ways I could reorganize my ideas to make for smoother and more fluent reads.

What makes StudyUSA truly stand out from other advising services, to me, is Anjanita’s attitude towards helping others and her amiability. She would help her students not the way the conventional advisor would, but rather like a parent would help her children.

Would I recommend StudyUSA to my friends? Verily. I already did!

I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Anjanita Mahadoo in 2014. She was the best counselor I could ask for, and was always there for me. From day 1, she offered her guidance and made sure I knew what had to be done, and when. The college application process can be quite stressful and tedious, but with her, everything was made easy. I cannot thank her enough for what she has done for me. She's one of the main reasons why I made it to an ivy league college with about 85% scholarship.
If you want to fulfill your American dream, Ms. Mahadoo is the person to trust.

I was lost and without guidance at some point during my college search. I had no idea what to do. Then came the light through the tunnel: I talked to dear Madame Mahadoo. She was encouraging throughout the process, and pushed me to bring out the best in me. The application process was indeed very bulky and hectic, with many high and lows, and I constantly had many questions, but she always had my back. Today, I am forever grateful that I got into several schools in the US—two of them with a full ride. She did everything in her capacity to help me achieve my dream of studying in the US.
Amherst College, here I come!
Thank you for everything Madame Mahadoo. Love you xx

Working with Anjanita Mahadoo:
I don’t even know if this can be called ‘work’. She is so passionate about her counseling that sometimes I even forgot that she does this for a living. Working with her has been many times, quite annoying for me, because she relentlessly reminds you of your essays, recommendation letters, and deadlines etc. At the end of the day, this was all rewarding for me though. Anjanita was not only passionate about helping others reach their dreams, but was sometimes even more optimistic than us. I remember when I had lost all hope of ever going to the US, after being accepted in 2 schools, but having obtained only 50% scholarship. However, she encouraged me to request for more scholarship. After a failed first attempt, I was already planning my studies in Mauritius itself, but she kept motivating me till the end, and kept encouraging me to try again. She not only scolded me, but urged my parents, constantly to make an effort. This goes to show how devoted she is towards her students. I don’t know if I can thank her enough for everything, but still...Thank you, Anjanita!

Dishane C. Luximon (Connecticut College)

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about working with Anjanita Mahadoo at the beginning. “Will it be worth it? Will this really help me?” I was asking myself a lot of questions. However, it didn’t take Anjanita long to completely erase all the doubts I had. Her caring side, and indisputable professionalism, convinced me that I made the right choice by seeking her help, and this proved to be decisive towards my quest of the ‘American Dream.’ Through her guidance, and more than valuable support, Anjanita helped me secure a spot at Cornell University and Connecticut College (currently attending with a full ride scholarship). In short, Anjanita’s experience in the field of education consulting proved to be key to my success, and I would highly recommend her to anyone thinking of applying to any U.S university.

Meeting Anjanita was a turning point in my life. As a fresh graduate from the university of Mauritius, I was confused whether to continue my teaching career, or to apply for my doctoral studies. It has been almost three years, but the memory of meeting Anjanita is still vivid in my mind. Her words of wisdom, rich experience and advice were instrumental in concretizing my decision of pursuing my Ph.D. The application procedure was both energy- and time-consuming for sure, but knowing that I had someone to turn to for advice or encouragement, whenever I felt uncertain of my own capabilities, reassured me in more ways than I could describe.

Anjanita is both a mentor and a friend to me. As a mentor, she is tactful, compassionate, helpful, and knows how to pull out the strengths in her mentees. Post my applications, I got accepted into two graduate schools with funding but I chose Indiana University School of Public Health - Bloomington because of my current advisor - Dr Susan E. Middlestadt, the amount of funding I was offered there, and of course the world-famous IU Bloomington campus! I have recently completed two years in the Health Behavior program at IU and I am on my way to working on my dissertation (Finally!). If you are also thinking of applying to graduate school, just go for it! The process can be grueling, but I personally assure you that it's completely worth it! I would recommend Anjanita anytime, and I strongly feel that anyone who is willing to go that extra mile in their education and career, will benefit from Anjanita’s advice.

StudyUSA’s service is excellent. The fact of having a motivating third party like StudyUSA, throughout my application process to US colleges and universities, really helped me. StudyUSA helps you showcase your full potential to universities, and thus ensures that you get matched to the university that best suits you. I valued the individual attention I received along with the meticulous work both StudyUSA and I put in.  Not only did Miss Anjanita demonstrate great professionalism and expertise while guiding me throughout my application, but she also came out as a very supportive figure who always encouraged me to dream bigger. StudyUSA creates a convivial and conducive climate that contributes greatly to the applicant’s success. I am grateful to StudyUSA and Miss Anjanita; without them I would not be at one of the top colleges in the US, interacting with a diverse set of ambitious people.

Bhuwan Gokhool (Union College)

My name is Bhuwan Gokhool and I am currently a rising sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Union College. Being able to study in the US is an achievement I am very proud of but this would not have been possible if it were not for the help I received from Miss Anjanita Mahadoo.
Following a close friend’s recommendation I sought Miss Anjanita’s help and at that time I was oblivious of most of the application process. I did not know how to get started, what to keep in mind when choosing colleges, how to effectively answer the application questions, or how to interpret my standardized test scores. In retrospect, I can clearly state that this decision was pivotal in shaping my tertiary education opportunity. Through merely the first couple of her workshops, most of my doubts were cleared. She in fact even walked us through the application step by step and was always ready to clarify our confusion.
Applying to the US, I must say, is a daunting process. At one point I seriously doubted my chances, yet madam Anjanita kept encouraging me. Although she works with many students, she always provided individual attention to all. She would always be willing to schedule individual meetings and she replied to our queries promptly through emails.
What again surprised me was the amount of effort that she puts into her work. Miss Anjanita never imposed her decisions on her students. Instead she was constantly researching alongside us in order to make as much information as possible available to us, so that we could make an informed decision. I remember her helping me break down my college search process and even providing me with a list Computer Science colleges, which met my needs.
At times she seemed strict but she provided us with much constructive criticisms that were tremendously helpful not just for a particular application but also for the successive ones. Another important aspect that comes to my mind is that she never discouraged us. She works with an optimistic mindset that translated clearly through her workshops. If the college seemed hard to get accepted to, she would push us to work harder but would never dissuade us.
Concluding the six or seven months of working together, we ended up building a special relation. She was in fact among the most elated people when I told her that I was able to secure a near 85% scholarship at Union College. Even years after the applications, I have no doubt that she would be happy to meet and chat with her students, be it in the US or Mauritius. I am very much thankful for everything she has helped me with and I wish her luck with her future students!

Lovanee Cunden (Bard University)

Working with Mrs. Mahadoo was one of the best things that happened in my life. Today I'm being able to pursue my American dream because of her.  She believed in when I could not believe in myself. One day, when college application deadlines were rolling in and I still had tons of essays to write,  I remember she told me "if you have an elephant to eat and keep staring at it you will never be able to do it but if you attack each part of the elephant one piece at a time, it makes it much easier and more approachable." She always had the right words to encourage me, and bring the best out of me. She is a driven, and organized advisor who develops inspiring relationships with her students. College application is a very stressful procedure but with her by my sides, I felt in safe hands. Her dedication to her work is so contagious that she makes you want to work harder to achieve your goals. She is a confident woman who knows what she is doing. She is a great advisor and listener. She always made me feel that my efforts would be rewarded and here I am today, doing my chemistry undergraduate degree at Bard College, New York with a Distinguished Scientist Scholarship. I am so grateful that even after working with her, she never left my sides and remained a guide in my life.

Working with Study USA has been the most rewarding and amazing experience of my life. It gave me a lot more confidence, and forced me to get to know my strengths and my weaknesses as well. Applying to U.S. colleges can at times prove to be very complicated and exhausting, and it was incredible to be able to have someone with so much knowledge in the field, to assist me through this whole process. I will not deny the fact that strong academic records might not always guarantee admission. Rather, it is every single part of the application, especially the personal essay, that has to be great. I initially had problems writing a good personal essay but with the support and guidance of Study USA, I managed to write the essay that got me into several colleges with full scholarships; I am headed to Georgetown in the fall on a full ride. Ms Anjanita was always there for me - whether to tell me how to make my application better, or to scold me for procrastinating a lot and not getting work done. Overall, it was a wonderful and life-changing experience. I learned a lot about myself, and I would recommend anyone who is willing to make their dreams of studying in the US come true, to work with Study USA.

"There is no shortcut when applying to US colleges. Mrs Mahadoo emphasized this fact every time we had a Skype session to discuss the progress of my application. I chose to work with her because she asked us for our hard work and dedication in exchange for hers. She knows the application process. She knows what colleges are looking for. I was convinced that she was the right person to guide me in the long and tedious application process. I was right. Talking to her urged me to contemplate about my achievements in life and my future endeavors, and I could thus select appropriate and interesting aspects of my life that I wanted to share with admissions officers. I was accepted at several great colleges from which I chose Colgate. I’m thankful to Mrs Mahadoo for her support that made it possible for me to pursue my undergraduate studies in the United States at a wonderful institution."

Toushita Ramchurn (Connecticut College)

Studying in the United States was my dream. However, I knew that the application process would have been challenging for me as I was left with literally less than two months to start and complete the whole process. I was lost and had no clue which part to tackle first. Fortunately, StudyUSA helped me plan and manage my application in such a way that I had enough time to complete everything judiciously. I got the right guidance, constant encouragement, and significant help whenever I needed it. While sharing my story in my essays, I was made to see how things which appeared insignificant to me could actually have a great impact on my application. Additionally, what I appreciated the most were the countdown emails before the deadline which really motivated me to strive for excellence. With that said, I will be flying to the US in fall 2017. I am extremely proud to be attending Connecticut College—one of the best private liberal arts colleges in the US. Working with StudyUSA was one of the most rewarding decisions of my life and I am very grateful.
